1. First job is to get your substrate ready. The substrate
we are using is Coir which comes in a compressed block which expands into
substrate when added to water. Place the block in 2ltrs of water. Leave
this to stand for 30 minutes |
|
2. Next job is to attach the Heat Mat. Spiders dont like
to be heated from the bottom of the enclosure so you need to tape it to
the back wall of the enclosure. Bear in mind later you will be putting
3 inches of substrate in the bottom so make sure you tape it 3 inches
above the floor.
Then stick the Thermometer and Hygrometer to side of the enclosure. |

3. By now your substrate should of expanded. Give the
substrate a good squeeze to make to get rid of any excess water. Now add
a good 3 inches of substrate to the enclosure. |
| 4. Next place the water bowl in the corner and
place half a flower pot in, sinking it into the substrate. |
|
|
|
|
|
5. Scoop up some of the substrate from inside the shelter
and use this to cover the top and back of the flower pot so no light gets
in. |
| 6. Now add your decoration bearing in mind not
to take to much of the floor space. Here we have sprinkled bark chips around
the tank and placed a layer of moss near the entrance to the shelter. We
have placed a plastic plant in to disguise the heat mat. You may want to
cut the plastic plant down to size. |

7. On the lid you will notice in the corners there is a hole
to run the heat mat wire through. You will need to remove the plug making
sure you put it back on the same way. Adult supervision will be needed. |
| 8. Your Tarantula enclosure and is set up a
ready to go! |
